What is Roblox FPS Unlocker?
Roblox FPS Unlocker (RFU, rbxfpsunlocker, or RBX FPS Unlocker) is an open-source Windows utility created to remove Roblox’s old 60 FPS limit. It does not render frames, lower ping, or optimize graphics. It only changes the frame-rate limit.
RFU is archived. Roblox added a native Maximum Frame Rate setting in May 2024, and the repository owner archived RFU on June 21, 2024.

Picking 60, 120, 144, or 240 FPS
Start near your monitor’s refresh rate. A much higher cap can add power use and heat without creating a visible benefit. If frame pacing becomes uneven, choose a lower stable target rather than chasing the largest number.

FPS unlocker vs Roblox FPS booster
Search results often mix these phrases, but they are not the same. An FPS unlocker raises or removes a cap. A so-called Roblox FPS booster promises performance optimization. RFU does not boost rendering performance; the original README states this explicitly.
Common Roblox FPS problems
Recheck the in-game cap, V-Sync, battery modes, laptop GPU profiles, and third-party frame limiters.
Lower Roblox graphics and compare a simple experience. The PC may be CPU-, GPU-, power-, or thermal-limited.
Choose a stable cap closer to the monitor refresh rate. Higher average FPS does not guarantee smooth frame pacing.
FPS controls cannot fix network delay. Try a nearer server, wired connection, or quieter network.
Antivirus warnings and file trust
The RFU README says its process-changing behavior can cause false positives. That history is not a reason to ignore every warning. Download only from the original archived repository, inspect the source and release context, scan the file, and prefer the built-in Roblox setting whenever it covers your goal.

Remove Roblox FPS Unlocker

- Delete rbxfpsunlocker.exe and its extracted folder.

Why does Windows Security flag rbxfpsunlocker?
The archived project explains that changing a running process can look suspicious to antivirus software and may trigger false positives. Why is my FPS still 60?
First verify Maximum Frame Rate, then check battery-saving modes, GPU-level caps, V-Sync, graphics load, thermal throttling, and whether the experience itself is CPU-bound. RFU is not an FPS booster.
How do I uninstall Roblox FPS Unlocker?
The original tool is portable. Exit it from the tray, then delete the executable and its folder. It does not need a traditional Windows uninstaller.
